Office of Governor Kate Brown

During the summer of 2016, I was the Communications Intern for Oregon Governor Kate Brown. I worked full time with her Communications Team (comprised of three press secretaries and a communications director) to execute the team's communications plans and strategies, to promote the Governor’s work. My responsibilities included staffing the Governor at events around the state, photographing these events, writing remarks, memos, and press releases, as well as managing her social media accounts. Below you will find examples of remarks and press releases I wrote, as well as my project proposal for starting the Governor’s Instagram account.

Social Media Proposal

Creating and presenting this proposal was one of my bigger challenges during my summer with the Governor’s office, but it is also one of the things I am most proud of. This proposal was necessary and set the Governor’s communications team up to run with what worked best for them. By the time my internship was over, I had implemented the processes and procedures presented, the Governor had received a blue check and had accumulated over 3000 followers in just three short months. Since then, her office has continued to utilize Instagram and have accumulated almost 50,000 followers.
